WISPIRG Foundation Staff
Peter joined WISPIRG in the summer of 2014 and has been the organization's Director since February 2015.
Peter came to Wisconsin after two years with NJPIRG in Trenton, New Jersey. At NJPIRG, he campaigned with community and student leaders to get Big Money out of politics. Peter trained students at Rutgers and at the College of New Jersey to build an organizing team that gathered petitions, lobbied local and federal elected officials and generated media attention throughout New Jersey. The students worked with community members across the state to pass 15 municipal- and county-level resolutions, including in Newark, Princeton and Essex County, calling on policymakers to pass a constitutional amendment that would stop the flood of Big Money into our elections. Eventually, New Jersey’s legislature became the ninth in the country to support sensible limits on campaign spending and the overturn of recent Supreme Court rulings like Citizens United.
Peter studied Political Science and Ethics at Northwestern University, where he also got his start in organizing and advocacy working on an environmental justice effort in Evanston, just north of Chicago. Peter grew up in Vienna, Austria (though to this day, he has never seen The Sound of Music).
